08:45 AM: PICK UP/Check Out FROM HOTEL
09:30 AM: BRUNCH AT OUTERLANDS
We'll have Ace with us to embark on our journey North, so this is a dog-friendly brunch place with outdoor seating.
10:30 AM: VISIT THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS
You'll be amazed at the swan pond, architecture and surrounding houses.
11:00 AM: VISIT THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
We'll also be driving over it, but we've got to get a picture in front of it!
12:45 PM: ARRIVE IN SONOMA!
We'll get settled into our cottage and eat lunch there to get Ace used to the place, and let him run around a bit.
02:00 PM: WINE TASTING AT CUVAISON ESTATE
Kick off wine country at a dog-friendly wine tasting! Cuvaison Estates is known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The architecture in their tasting room has been featured in many design magazines.
03:45 PM: GARDEN TOUR & Wine TASTING AT FROG'S LEAP
Another dog-friendly wine excursion, wine tasting in the gardens of Frog's Leap Winery to end the day!
The front porch of our cottage in Sonoma.
05:30 PM: COOKING AT THE COTTAGE
We'll make dinner at our cottage, because we just spent all of our money on wine and our place has a gourmet kitchen. Dinner menu is TBD, we'll decide when we see what looks good at the farmer's market the day before. If we haven't had enough wine, we can crack open a bottle and enjoy time together as we unwind for the night...and spend some time on that adorable little porch swing!
PACKING TIPS FOR THIS DAY:
- Dress casually and comfortably for brunch and our trip up to Sonoma.
- Sonoma and Napa are usually much drier and warmer than the Bay Area by about 15-20 degrees. You'll probably want to wear open-toed shoes.
- I recommend getting a little more dressed up for wine tastings, a daytime dress or nice blouse works for ladies. A collared shirt works for men. It's not as fancy as going to an expensive dinner, but most people use wine country as an excuse to dress up.
